You will be notified of the outcome of your Canadian citizenship application through mail or email, depending on the information you provided to IRCC.
Approval Notification
If your citizenship application is approved, you will receive:
- Invitation for the Oath of Citizenship Ceremony: This is the final step in the process, where you will take the Oath of Citizenship and officially become a Canadian citizen. The invitation will include details about the date, time, and location of the ceremony.
- Certificate of Canadian Citizenship: After you take the oath, you will receive your official Certificate of Canadian Citizenship.
Denial Notification
If your citizenship application is denied, you will receive:
- Letter of Refusal: The letter will explain the reasons for the denial.
- Right to Appeal: If you disagree with the decision, you may have the option to appeal. The letter will outline the appeal process and any timelines for submitting an appeal.
How to Check Your Application Status
While you wait for the notification, you can track your application status online via your IRCC account or the IRCC Application Tracker.
If you haven’t received any communication after a reasonable period, or if you have concerns, contact IRCC directly through their contact form or customer service line.
